An old print tradition, called ‘banging out’, involved an employee on the day they retired after a life-time’s service, being walked through the press room, whilst serenaded by colleagues whacking the metal benches with their hammers to mark their departure.

This year was the McLays team’s 15th consecutive year supporting the Movember cause.

Jonathan Thomas (JT), Director & General Manager at McLays, is celebrating 40 years with the company.

Recently, McLays received an email from a local University Professor who had noticed that Bee Orchids were sprouting alongside the verge of our manufacturing plant.
However, our maintenance contractors had not realised and had unfortunately mown in this area.


First Minister for Wales, Mark Drakeford, announced that Wales will go into a national lockdown from 6pm Friday 23rd October until Monday 9th November.

McLays employee Lewis Stevens had never run more than 5 miles before running the Cardiff Half Marathon - and he completed the 13 mile course in a very respectable 2 hours 25 minutes.

Three McLays staff took part in the Prostate Cancer Walk for Men in September. 

Once again the furry faces of Team MOcLays appeared in support of Movember for the 10th year running.

Cardiff University, a long-standing customer of McLays, was the proud Title Sponsor of the inaugural Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships which brought a stellar line up of the world’s best endurance athletes to Cardiff. 


For the 9th year running a group of staff used this charitable cause as an excuse to try new facial hair styles, and once again they pulled off a wonderful array of ‘taches whilst raising a superb sum of £750.

GDPR, expands and clarifies, the rights of data subjects and the ways in which organisations, which hold and process the personal data of EU citizens, must protect and conduct personal information. As part of European law, compliance with the GDPR is not optional, and McLays is fully committed to ensuring that it meets all of its GDPR requirements.

McLays supported the breast cancer day "Wear It Pink" with a number of pink-themed activities on 20th October.

McLays supported their charity partner Size of Wales on the annual Go Green Day in October 2017

McLays were the first company in Europe, and the second in the world, to have the new Xerox Brenva digital inkjet cut sheet print engine installed.

For the 2nd year in a row McLays staff embraced Save The Children's Christmas Jumper Day.

Once again MOcLays staff did their annual MOvember growing exercise and managed to achieve some interesting looks! 
The fantastic sum of £695 was raised - not a bad MOnation!


Avoiding your daughter in university is something a lecturer may have to do - but for a third year mature student to be in the same university as her 'Fresher Chemist' daughter, is probably not as common!

Manufacturing Manager Paul "Reg" Taylor completed the 5km "Rainbow Run" at Barry Island to raise funds for Ty Hafan hospice in South Wales.
